Overview & Highlights

Stepping into the vibrant world of Kuala Kurau, one cannot overlook the delightful gem that is Chuan Kiang Kopitiam | 钏强茶室. Nestled conveniently at the junction upon entering this charming town, the kopitiam boasts a rich history, once serving as a cinema, a nostalgic wink to its past. Today, it stands as a bustling food hub, attracting both locals and visitors alike with its array of flavors and heartwarming service.

The moment you walk through its doors, friendly servers usher you toward a smorgasbord of culinary stalls, each offering tantalizing dishes that pay homage to traditional Chinese fare. From the fragrant curry mee at just RM4.50, which features a hint of prawns, to the aromatic fried kuey teow, exuding that coveted 'wok hei' essence, every dish tells a story of meticulous preparation. Though some flavors may come across as mild, there’s a promise of satisfaction in every bite.

Among the highlights, the prawn noodles receive particular praise for their robust prawn-flavored broth, a dish that warms the soul. Customers rave about the fried noodles and the generous serving of shrimp rolls, crafted to perfection and priced at RM10 for four. It’s a must-try for seafood lovers!

For those seeking breakfast or a savory snack, the kopitiam presents an impressive variety. The chai kueh and chee cheong fun, sourced from nearby stalls, are not to be missed. The latter, drenched in a deliciously thick sauce with a hint of shrimp paste, stands out as a diner favorite.

A hidden champion on the beverage front is the signature drink, "Tiger and Lion." This unique concoction adds an adventurous twist to the typical drinks you’d expect at a kopitiam. Patrons can also indulge in a refreshing wheatgrass drink reminiscent of sweet Cendol, combining the flavors of gula Melaka and evaporated milk—a wholesome end to any meal.

Located right at the junction when entering Kuala Kurau. Used to be cinema many years ago. Servers were very friendly pointing out stalls and what thwy served to us. Curry mee RM4.50 topped with little prawns. For me the curry soup is too blend. Fried kuey teow RM5. Taste is not bad, a lot of wok hei but very greasy. Shrimp rolls from the kuey stall Rm10 for 4 rolls, very nice. The Chai kueh is also very good. Chee cheong fun from next kopitiam (you can order from there and eat here) very good. The sauce is very thick and I think shrimp paste was added. Prawn noodle is very good. Nice prawn flavoured soup. Very good place to try some of every thing.

This is a coffee shop located in Kuala Kurau area. There are a few stalls operating within the coffee shop. The curry rice stall serves good fish curry. There is also a fried noodles stall too which serves reasonable fried noodles dishes. The coffee shop serves the usual coffee shop drinks. Their signature drink "Tiger and Lion" is popular and worth trying. Prices are reasonable. Cash and e-wallet payments are accepted. Cleanliness is acceptable. Service is fast. Parkings are roadside parkings. Handicapped patrons on wheelchairs can patronize this coffee shop easily.

Variety of choice for breakfast. Majority food selling here have good taste. Roti Bom Milo is kid favarable. The chai kuei, chee Chang fun also good to try. The ho Kian char with an egg is tasty. coffee is a start for the day.
